Jordan and China on Saturday signed a US$ 4.5 million grant agreement to finance development projects in the Kingdom of Jordan. The agreement was signed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Jafar Hassan and Chinese Deputy Minister of Commerce Chen Jian. In a press statement, Hassan expressed Jordan's keenness on strengthening relations with China in various fields. The agreement affirms both countries' keenness on promoting cooperation in various fields, the minister was quoted as saying by Jordan's News Agency "PETRA". Hassan noted that Jordan and China agreed, during the recent visit of a Jordanian delegation to China, to set up economic cooperation program for the next three years so as to enhance bilateral cooperation in various economic- related spheres. The Chinese official, for his part, stressed the strong ties between Jordan and China, noting that "the current visit is an opportunity to exchange views on various issues". He added that the visit of Jordan's King Abdullah II to China in 2008, contributed positively to promoting bilateral ties in various fields.
