Istisqa (rain-seeking) prayers were performed this morning throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in pursuant of the Prophet's Sunnah (Traditions) to perform "Istisqa" prayers in case of drought or delay in rainfall. "Istisqa" prayers were also performed at universities and schools in various provinces of the Kingdom. Istisqa prayer in the Holy Mosque of Makkah was attended by Undersecretary of Makkah Province Dr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Khudhairi and President General of The Affairs of The Holy Mosque of Makkah and The Prophet's Mosque in Madinah Sheikh Saleh bin Abdulrahman Al-Hussain. In Makkah, Istisqa prayer was led by Imam of the Holy Mosque of Makkah Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais. He pointed out that neglect against the teachings of the religion prevent rainfalls, urging Muslims on adherence to the Holy Quran and Prophet's Sunnah. In Madinah, Prince Abdulaziz Ibn Majed Ibn Abdulaziz, the Governor of Madinah Province, attended the prayer at the Prophet's Holy Mosque. The prayer was led by Imam of the Prophet's Mosque Sheikh Abdulmohsen Al-Qassem. He called on Muslims in his sermon to repent their misdeeds and to beseech Allah Almighty for rainfall.
