Ali Ibrahim Al Naimi, The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources discussed here today with Mexican Foreign Secretary Patricia Espinosa Cantellano, a number of issues of common concern between the two countries as the two countries are oil-producing and contribute to the stability of the oil markets. They also discussed the topics of State Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Kyoto Protocol also known as COP 16 to be held in Cancun Mexico, from November 29 to December 10, 2010. "Saudi Arabia is an active and influential member of the COP conferences and all concern climate changes conferences as Saudi Arabia pays great attention to the preservation of environment and other environmental issues," said Al Naimi after the meeting. The meeting also touched upon the importance of continuous discussion and consultation between the two countries in environment and climate changes topics for the success of Cancun conference (COP 16), he added.
