Hijjah 12, 1431 / Nov. 18, 2010, SPA -- Firefighters managed on Thursday to extinguish fire broke out in one of the engines of the transport plane C130 affiliated to the Yemeni Air Forces. The fire blazed as the plane deviated from the runway it was supposed to keep and felt on one of its wings, Saba reported. Chairman of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology Hamid Faraj said that "The plane was coming from the Jordanian capital, Amman, and went aside from the runway after it landed in the airport which caused the fire to break out in one of its engines." He pointed out that the airport was shut down for a short time just after the incident and then resumed activities as normal. A joint investigation will be launched by the Air Forces and General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology to know specifics of the incident and the results will be announced in due time, Faraj concluded.
