The General Authority for Civil Aviation announced that a blast took place in a tank of old Tri-Star plane and consequently fire broke out in the right wing of the plane at Taif Regional Airport today leading to the death of 4 Pakistani workers and the injury of one Pakistani worker. The authority pointed out that the incident happened while workers of British Regency Projects Company contracting to dismantle parts of Tri-Star old planes at the airport were doing their job. In a press statement received by Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Authority said that firefighters and rescue teams of the Authority immediately rushed to the scene where they managed to control and extinguish the fire and then to evacuate the dead and transfer the injured worker, noting that air traffic has not been affected at the airport by the incident. The Authority indicated that it dispatched a team of specialists and investigators in aviation safety to start investigations and know the causes of the incident.
