Hijjah, 1431/Nov. 16, SPA -- Eid Al-Adha prayers were performed this morning of the first day of Eid Al-Adha all over the Kingdom. In Makkah, the early hours of this morning witnessed the flow of the people of Makkah and thousands of pilgrims performing Eid prayers at the holy Mosque in an atmosphere of safe and secure. The worshipers was led by imam and Khateeb of the Holy Mosque of Makkah, Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al Sudais, who explained in his sermon (Khutbah) the virtue of this blessed day in which God Almighty bestows His forgiveness and mercy on His worshipers. Al Sudais said that "One of great Islamic rites in this glorious day is the sacrificial ritual following the Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Muhammad peace be upon them". He pointed out to jurisdictions of the sacrificial rules, stressed that as far as nations are adherent to civilized characteristics and committed to values insofar they could achieve their historical and humanitarian glories. Sheikh Al Sudais also asserted in his sermon that in a time of media challenges and the era of globalization, the forms and manifestations of deviations which are threatening the international security and world peace to instability are due to the negligence of the principles of civilization and the human ideals and values. --More
