Qa'dah 26, 1431, Nov 03, 2010, SPA -- The Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has accorded a big attention to the development of the transport sector and has established wide-ranging networks of roads covering a length of more than 186,000 kms until the fiscal year 1429 / 1430H, which are built in conformity with the advanced and latest international specifications. The budget of Ministry of Transport for the fiscal year 1431/1432H, allocated an amount of SR 10.8 billion for the establishment of new roads totaling a length of 6,400 kms. The new projects include the establishment of highways, dual and single track roads, the most prominent ones are Jeddah-Jazan coastal highway "third phase", the first phase of Tabuk-Madinah Highway, Afif-Zulam two-way road, Ring Road in Jeddah and other roads. The report issued by the Ministry of Transport for the fiscal year 1428 / 1429H said that works were underway on the implementation of several road projects in all regions of the Kingdom totaling 494 projects by the end of the fiscal year 1428/1429H with a total length of about 27,500 km at a cost of SR 32 billion. --More
