Qa'dah 12, 1431, Oct 20, 2010, SPA -- The U.S. Geological Survey says a series of earthquakes has hit northern Mexico around the Gulf of California area. It says at least seven tremors struck the area late Tuesday and early Wednesday. Preliminary reports posted on USGS' website show the largest of the earthquakes was centered 125 kilometers (80 miles) southwest of the city of Guamuchil, with a magnitude of 5.8. There were no immediate reports of damage or injury from the tremors, the Associated Press reported.
