The Saudi embassy in Washington has held a reception party and a dinner in honor of participants in the U.S.-White House-organized Meeting for followers of Religions under the theme "Enhancing Cooperation Among Followers of Religions to Bring about Peace". Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United States, welcomed the embassy's guests at the event which was held last night and conveyed to them the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud who has played a leading role in launching dialogue among followers of religions which was culminated by the U.N. conference late 2008. Addressing the gathering, Al-Jubeir called for pursuing the call of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for enhancing tolerance and understanding through focusing on the common international values which could create a better world. He pointed out that there was misunderstanding of Islam in the world today. Unfortunately, terrorists and extremists committed drastic criminal acts which could not be justified by any religion, he added. We believe that through focusing on the high religious values of mercy, tolerance and amicability, we could face fanaticism and hatred and we altogether contribute to congregate mankind with each other, overcome the difficulties, bring about peace and justice, build bridges of understanding and calm down the voices of fanaticism, he concluded.
