Suwaiyel delivered the opening speech of the Conference, saying, ""I was honored to be delegated by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to open the Conference on his behalf with his best wishes for a successful conference that benefits all people. " He pointed out that space and aeronautics sector in the Kingdom has been growing and keeping abreast with increasing government attention to issues of science, technology and innovation, which have led to the achievement of the long-term national strategic plan for science and technology. Dr. Al-Suwaiyel noted that KACST has during the past decade, designed and manufactured 12 satellites with national capabilities and the City is going ahead with its cooperation with "NASA" through a number of research projects, in addition to its membership in the Academic Network of NASA Lunar Science Institute.
