Upon directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and under the supervision of Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, who is also the General Supervisor for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques relief campaign for the flood-hit Pakistani people, the third relief convoy, part of the land relief campaign, headed from Islamabad towards flood-stricken areas in Pakistan to have relief items distributed over the needy. The Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Abdulaziz Ibrahim Al-Ghadir and a number of governmental and regional officials attended the kick off. Dr. Khalid Al-Othmani, the Regional Director of the campaign, said the third convoy consists of 160 trailers laden with 40,000 food baskets containing about 1600 tons of foodstuffs worth SR5,295,675. Pakistani officials expressed thanks to and appreciation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for this humanitarian assistance. For his part, the Minister of Law and Justice Baber A'awan told the Saudi Press Agency that the relief help provided by the Kingdom to Pakistan is unprecedented as the assistance was presented to Pakistan in three categories: Pakistani governmental bodies directly receive assistance, UN relief agencies are financed by Saudi Arabia relevant concerned authority to do their job and through direct relief campaign distributed by Saudi officials themselves. He appealed to Allah Almighty to reward the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for this generosity.
