Rain-triggered floods killed four people and left two others missing Sunday in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, local government said. A sedan carrying seven people was flushed away by gushing torrents at about 5 a.m. Sunday in Atush City in southwestern Xinjiang. Rescuers had recovered four bodies by 1 p.m. and saved one person. But two were still missing, Xinhua quoted officials with the city government as saying. Continuous downpours began to pelt Atush on Thursday, which triggered floods on Sunday that inundated houses and stranded people. Firefighters are rushing to the flood-hit regions. More rain is forecast for the coming two days.
