A flood hit a village of herdsmen in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region late Friday, destroying houses, blocking roads and drowning cattle. Local authorities said Saturday no one was killed or injured in Alakak County, Altay City, where the flood, triggered by days of downpours, occurred. But more than 500 households were affected, Xinhua reported. At least 25 cattle were killed, 18 houses destroyed, and 1600 meters of fencing collapsed, authorities said. Disaster relief operations are under way.
