Incessant Heavy rain and strong wind triggered a landslide and uprooted a number of trees in Tabanan District, Bali Province, Sunday. "A minor landslide occurred at around 11 am local time near Patung Jagung at Bedugul," ANTARA quoted Adjunct Commissioner I Made Punia of Tabanan police office as saying. Floodwaters eroded a cliff surrounding Patung Jagung area and triggered a landslide which buried part of the road there, he said. The landslide disrupted traffic in Tabanan district, especially for vehicles heading to Singaraja or Denpasar, he added. Local volunteers and public works personnel cleaned up the mud from the road about an hour after the landslide, to normalize the traffic again. A number of trees in Tabanan city and Wanasari village were also uprooted by strong wind which hit the areas during the heavy rain. Meanwhile, a flood triggered by heavy rains, destroyed two houses and submerged hundreds of houses at Negara, Jembrana District, Bali Province, on Sunday. Indonesia having two seasons in a year, namely dry season and rainy season, was supposed to experience dry season during April-October. But due to the climate change impacts, La Nina has been developing in the country and triggered a wet drought in the country.
