Rescue teams were looking for five missing children Monday, in the wake of a boat accident in the Sao Francisco river, in the northeastern Brazilian state of Bahia. The accident Sunday claimed the lives of six people - five children and one 16-year-old girl - as a boat carrying 18 people sank, according to dpa. According to river authorities in the town of Juazeiro, the boat sank near the town of Pilao Arcado. Fire department and Navy personnel joined Monday a rescue team that was so far reliant on police and local fishermen. The boat, with a permit to carry only three people, carried 18 members of a family returning from an outing, police said. The seven adults who had been travelling on the boat survived, although two of them needed to be taken to hospital.
