At least six people were missing Thursday, hours after a ship carrying some 70 people capsized in the Amazon River in northern Brazil, according to dpa. According to fire department reports, the Almirante Monteiro went down early Thursday after crashing with a ferry in the Itacoatiara region. The ship had left the town of Alenquer, in the state of Para, late Wednesday, and was headed for Amazonas' state capital, Manaus. Rescue teams - supported by eight divers and one militarized police boat - were looking for six missing people, including two children. The remaining passengers were rescued from the water alive. The causes of the accident was to be investigated.
