A shooting spree in the Slovak capital that claimed seven lives could have stemmed from the gunman's conflicts with his Roma victims, who were also his neighbours, dpa quoted officials as saying on Tuesday. Interior Minister Daniel Lipsic said that police did not yet know the gunman's motive, but there was "no evidence at all" that the rampage was racially motivated. "His following actions on the street - shooting at anyone (who was) moving regardless of her or his colour of skin - more or less exclude a potential racial motive," Lipsic told reporters in a briefing televised on the TA3 news channel. Police identified the gunman as Lubomir Harman, 48, an unemployed member of a military reservists' club, who had neither been a professional soldier nor a police officer in the past. He had a clean criminal record. An autopsy revealed that Harman was wounded by a police officer from a rapid-response unit before he shot himself in the head, Lipsic said. Neighbours described the gunman, who lived alone, as quiet, friendly and not prone to conflicts, police president Jaroslav Spisiak said. -- SPA
