Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Atiyyah, the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), described the regional tour of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud which will take him to Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan as of tomorrow amid accelerating developments and serious challenges in the region as historical and important. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Al-Atiyyah lauded the efforts of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in support of Arab cause, led by the Palestinian issue. He highlighted the high profile and political leverage the monarch enjoys, noting the positive initiatives launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in support of the Arab and Islamic issues, led by the Arab Peace Initiative. Al-Atiyyah also confirmed the effectiveness of the GCC role in enhancing the Arab common action, stating that the King's tour would reap positive and fruitful results. He expected that the Arab common action would witness a qualitative leap, in view of this tour, to confront the challenges engulfing the region.
