A moderate earthquake hit near the US territories of Guam and the Northern Marianas islands, but there are no reports of injury or damage. The US Geological Survey said the magnitude 5.5 temblor struck at 3:39 p.m. Saturday local time. It was centered 40 miles (65 kilometers) northeast of Hagatna and 100 miles (160 kilometers) southwest of Saipan in the Northern Marianas at a depth of 90 miles (145 kilometers) beneath the Pacific Ocean seabed, AP reported.
