At least five children and a 27-year-old guardian drowned today at a holiday camp in southern Russia, amid a rapid increase in summer swimming-pool deaths across the country, the Interfax news agency reported, according to dpa. The two boys and three girls between the ages of 8 and 16, all from the Moscow region, were at a holiday camp on the Sea of Azov. A 10-year-old boy is still missing. The 27-year old drowned as he was trying to rescue the children, the agency said. The cause of the accident was not yet clear. The latest deaths add to the toll of more than 285 people who have died in drowning incidents in lakes and rivers across the country since the beginning of July. -- SPA
