year-old man drowned in the swimming pool of a private rest house in Jeddah under mysterious circumstances. A Civil Defense team has opened up investigations into the death. The Civil Defense opened a similar investigation about a week ago on the drowning of a 6-year-old boy in one of the swimming pools of Al-Rehaili rest houses north of Jeddah. It turned out that the boy had gone into the swimming pool unnoticed while his family was busy doing other things. Brig. Gen. Muhammad Al-Ghamdi, Director of Civil Defense in Jeddah Governorate, said the prime responsibility for safety of children lies with their families. He said rest house and chalet owners must erect a high fence around swimming pools and provide them with a gate. Since the beginning of the summer vacation, eight drowning cases have occurred in Jeddah, and the number might increase during the holy month of Ramadan and the Eid holidays. – Okaz __
