On the sideline of the conference of the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies (IAIS), an affiliate of Exeter University, England, King Abdulaziz Public Library (KAPL) in cooperation with Exeter University will organize a photo exhibition of Princess Alice (25 February 1883 - 03 January 1981) - the grandchild of Queen Victoria, from 02 July - 14 August, 2010. The exhibition entitled "The Journey of a Lifetime - An exhibition of photographs by HRH Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1938", will display Princess Alice who was the first member of the British royal family to visit Saudi Arabia, and the only member of the royal family to meet King Abdulaziz. During her extraordinary trip which took her to the hills above Makkah and into the heart of Riyadh and of Jeddah, she took more than 320 photographs. These pictures capture forever the essence of her ground-breaking and historic journey. They now belong to the King Abdulaziz Public Library in Riyadh which has sponsored this exhibition of her photographs, The IAIS published in its website The exhibition will present chronological and selective pictures that document the her 3-week visit to the Kingdom starting from a reception at Jeddah seaport to Taif, Riyadh, Khobar and Al Ahsa, including her audience with the late King Abdulaziz and four of his predecessors sons - the late King Saud, the late King Faisal, the late King Fahd and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz.
