The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu expressed deep sorrow over the casualties and losses caused by unusual heavy seasonal flooding in particular in the southeast area of the country. Ihsanoglu offered sincere condolences to the government and the people of China and expressed deep sympathies for the flood victims. He praised the Chinese authorities for their emergency response in the wake of this catastrophic flooding. He hoped that the country would be able to take immediate and appropriate measures to mitigate the sufferings of the affected people given their long experience in dealing with natural disasters.
