Pakistan's Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday vowed not to bow down to extremism and terrorism and to launch a military operation at any place that served as a safe haven for such elements. Addressing a public gathering in Saidu Sharif for the distribution of cheques among the affectees of Swat and Malakand, the Prime Minister said the writ of the government would be established at all costs. If the government fails to protect the lives of the people and their property then it has failed in its obligations and we will not let it happen, Gilani said. He said, “wherever the writ of the government is challenged military operations will be conducted”. The stability of Pakistan and world are inter-linked, the Prime Minister said. Accepting the long standing demands of the people of Swat and Malakand, the Prime Minister also announced a university in Swat and approval for Malakand Tunnel, according to a report of the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP). Gilani condemned the incident of Lahore in strongest terms and said the government would do all within its means to protect the lives of the people, including minorities.
