Northern Poland prepared Tuesday for the arrival of a flood wave that has so far claimed the lives of 15 people and left southern regions of the country under water. The flood wave, which formed in southern Poland along the Vistula River after days of heavy rain, has traveled along the river up north and reached Pomerania Province, located on the Baltic coast. Firefighters and police worked through the night into Tuesday in the town of Tczew, northern Poland, putting up flood barriers. Some 11 people were evacuated from the nearby town of Gniew, as a barrier there leaked. Rescue efforts were continuing in central Poland, the German Press Agency "DPA" reported. The government of Poland was slated to discuss aid to flood victims on Tuesday. Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said nobody touched by the flooding will go without aid.
