Prince Naif Center for Immunology Research (PNCIR) will hold its first Joint Symposium with the 2nd Asthma Research Chair on May 29-30, 2010 at the College of Medicine, King Saud University, Riyadh. It will focus on a number of national and regional experiences of Saudi, Kuwaiti, Omani, UAE, Lebanese and Moroccan nationalities in addition to scientific achievements conducted or discovered recently by PNCIR, said Saleh Z Al-Muhsen, MD, Chairman, Organizing Committee as well as Director of both Prince Naif Center for Immunology Research and KSU's Asthma Research Chair. Among the key note speakers are Prof. Stephen Townley Holgate, a laureate of King Faisal International Prize in Medicine 1998 and a Research Professor of Immunopharmacology, Medical Research Council, Southampton, UK who will lecture on the Need for New Research Approaches in Asthma and Allergy. In addition, Prof. Qutayba Hamid,Professor of Medicine and Pathology, Research Director, Meakins-Christie Laboratories McGill University, Montreal, Canada will discuss in his lecture "Severe Asthma. Is it a Different Phenotype?". On his part, Prof. Jean-Laurent Casanova, Director and Co-founder of Laboratory of Human Genetics of Infectious Diseases, Necker Hospital and School of Medicine, Paris, France, will present a New Paradigm in "Primary Immunodeficiency". The State-of-the-art PNCIR Laboratory will be inaugurated on the first day of the symposium, said Dr.Al-Muhsen.
