on-Don, April 24, 2010, SPA -- A powerful homemade explosive device has been found near a district police office in Rostov-on-Don. A policeman found the bomb on Friday when examining the territory. He saw a cardboard box with wire. It was on the ground at the gates to the inner yard, Itar-Tass reported. Sappers arrived at the site. They "fired" a water gun on the object. Afterwards, a five-liter bottle of ammonium nitrate and aluminium powder were found in the box. The explosive device was filled with metal nails. Attackers planned to set off the device with an electric detonator with wire and a battery. The content weighed a total of 2.4 kilogrammes. The regional department of the Investigation Committee has opened a criminal case over the incident on charges of terrorism, illegal possession of explosives and illegal making of arms.
