Prime Minister Chung Un-Chan of the Republic of Korea opened here today the 14th Conference of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) in the presence of delegations from 45 news agencies and Federations of news agencies. In a keynote speech on the occasion, the premier of the Republic of Korea highlighted the importance of the role of news agencies at the speed and confidence of spreading the news to the world and the need to share information and make balance in their distribution. On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Korea, he expressed congratulations on inaugurating the conference, welcoming the participants and pointing out to the role of the Republic of Korea in the world and that it will host a summit of G20 and a conference of the security of nuclear energy in the world, ensuring the contribution of his country, holding its responsibilities at the international level as well as its contribution to building bridges among all countries of the world. Prime Minister Chung also emphasized that OANA will contribute to reducing the gap between the developed and developing countries in a more balanced way and would also contribute to the advancement of its members and putting forward their views. --More
