The High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem Pillay and the accompanying delegation arrived in Riyadh today on a visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. At King Khalid International Airport, they were received by President of Human Rights Commission Dr. Bandar bin Mohammed Al-Eiban, the Commission's Vice President Dr. Zaid Al Hussein and a number of officials. The High Commissioner expressed her pleasure over visiting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and meeting with Saudi officials, noting that she will discuss issues relating to human rights at all levels. On his part, Dr. Al-Eiban pointed out that the visit will be an opportunity for the Commissioner to be briefed on the achievements of the Kingdom under the leadership of the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, especially in the field of protection and promotion of human rights guaranteed by Islamic Sharia, as well as the King's efforts to achieve just peace and coexistence among peoples, dialogue and rejection of racism in all its forms. He noted that the visit will be an opportunity for further cooperation between the Kingdom and the High Commission for Human Rights in various fields, particularly pertaining to technical cooperation and training.
