A powerful cyclone has hit Russia's Far East, bringing snowfalls, gale-force winds and snowdrifts in the Khabarovsk region, Primorye and Sakhalin. The Far Eastern regional centre of the Ministry for Emergency Situations has issued a storm warning. Winds up to 28 meters per second are fixed on the coast of the Tatar Strait in the Khabarovsk region, snowdrifts and winds up to 30 meters per second are fixed in Sakhalin, and heavy snowfalls have hit Primorye, Itar-Tass reported. Emergency situations are possible in the region on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Far Eastern centre for monitoring and forecasting said. The cyclone can disrupt the functioning of the housing and communal sector, enterprises of the fuel and energy complex, and also cause ruptures of power transmission lines. Black frost on highways impedes traffic, and navigation in the coastal zone is dangerous at the moment. Local residents have received recommendations not to use cars and not to leave their settlements. Tourists have also received a warning.
