based Al-Nadwah praised the great awareness programs launched by the Ministry of Islamic affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance to confront extremism and fanaticism in various regions of the Kingdom. "It is high time for Ulema (Islamic scholars) and Islamic callers to assume their responsibilities as regards this dangerous phenomenon because they are capable of properly explaining the true principles of Islam and its noble values which advocate love, fraternity and tolerance." "Owners of the deviant ideology have been exploiting the enthusiasm of the youth and persuading them to perpetrate criminal acts which run counter to the teachings of Islam and to the reasonable way of thinking," the paper said. "But, the efforts of the Islamic callers and Ulema in this respect should be combined with the efforts of the thinkers, intellectuals and media men," the daily noted. It lauded the pre-emptive strikes carried out by the security men to abort the evil plots hatched by terrorists. "However, efforts should also be exerted to uproot this dangerous phenomenon."
