The Inter-Parliamentary Union concludes its 122nd Assembly tomorrow with the participation of around 2000 Parliamentarians representing more than 130 parliaments from all over the world. The IPU will issue a number of recommendations and suggestions regarding political, economical, social, cultural, and educational issues at the conclusion of the assembly. Some of the subjects that were discussed during the assembly were cooperation and shared responsibility in the global fight against organized crime, in particular drug trafficking, illegal arms sales, human trafficking and cross-border terrorism, the role of parliaments in developing South-South and Triangular Cooperation with a view to accelerating achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, the role of parliaments in strengthening the solidarity of the international community towards the people of Haiti and Chile in the wake of devastating major disasters, and urgent actions required in all disaster-prone countries to improve disaster-risk assessment, prevention and mitigation, according to a report of the UAE news agency "WAM".
