The Board of Directors of the GCC Monetary Council elected Dr Mohammed bin Suleiman Al-Jasser, Governor of Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) as the Chairman of the Monetary Council and Rasheed Al-Miraj, the Governor of Bahrain's Central Bank, as the Deputy Chairman, both for a period of one year, effective from today. The Monetary Council's member states include Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait. Meanwhile, the participants of the meeting reviewed a number of topics including means of forging coordination of monetary policies and developing statistical systems as well as preparing the system of payments and settlements. They underscored the importance of continuation of efforts for the establishment of the Monetary Council and issuance of the unified currency.
