based Al-Madinah newspaper said since the first Arab summit held in Cairo in 1964 numerous decisions had been adopted by the subsequent Arab summits, but still the Arab nation continues to face thorny problems which threaten its security and unity. The Qatari Emir made it clear in his speech before the opening session of the Arab summit that no achievements had been attained during his chairmanship of the Arab summit last year, said the paper adding that Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi called for avoiding decisions which don't meet the aspirations of the Arab nation. "What was stated by the Qatari Emir and the Libyan President confirms the fact that the Arab institutions face a terrible crisis, but nobody spoke about the solutions and their requirements, and nobody said whether the problem is in the Arab League or in the entire Arab regional system." The paper believes that there is a need for revision of the current situation and discovery of the weak points prior to tackling the problem, adding that this is the responsibility of the leaders who are attending the gathering in Sirte. --More
