An Egyptian security official says border guards have fatally shot two African migrants and wounded eight trying to cross illegally into Israel, according to AP. The official said the guards first fired warning shots to stop the migrants from crossing the border south of Rafah on Saturday. The migrants were from Eritrea and Guinea. The official said the wounded were taken to a hospital, and three were in critical condition. One other migrant was detained. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. Many migrants seeking political asylum and jobs try to cross into Israel with the help of Bedouin traffickers. Egypt has killed dozens of migrants at the border in the past two years, drawing criticism from rights groups.
