The United Arab Emirates' Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna Al-Qassimi and the visiting Cypriot Foreign Minister, Markos Kyprianou have held discussions on ways to promote bilateral trade and investment cooperation. A number of proposals to enhance trade exchange and agricultural and infrastructure investments between the UAE and Cyprus were explored by Al-Qassimi and Kyprianou. Expanding contacts between the business communities of both countries were also on the table of the meeting, the UAE news agency "WAM" reported. In remarks at the meeting, Al-Qassimi stressed that the areas of non-oil trade cooperation with Cyprus include renewable energy and industrial technology. She also underscored potential partnerships and joint projects between the two countries, noting the competitive edge of the UAE economy and calling Cypriot investors to explore the friendly investment environment in the UAE that has become a lucrative market and a destination for global companies' operations. For his part, the Cypriot minister said his current visit to the UAE is aimed at promoting trade, agricultural and tourism relations with the UAE in addition to enhancing the exchange of expertise in various fields.
