A magnitude 5.5 quake hit Gunungsitoli waters in North Sumatra at around 21.59 on Saturday, Antara news agency reported last night. According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency the quake`s epicenter was 57 kilometer northwest of Gunungsitoli, North Sumatra or 122 kilometers southeast of Singkil Baru, Aceh, 15 kilometer deep below the sea level. People in Gunungsitoli felt the quake but the agency said it did not have the potential to cause a tsunami.
