based Al-Madinah said reactions of senior US officials toward the Israeli settlement policy will realize the fact that Washington's stand in this respect is ambiguous in an unprecedented manner. "It seems that Washington is unable to take a decisive stand vis-à-vis the Israeli settlement policy which flagrantly contradicts with the American pledge to establish the Palestinian state which is capable of survival," said the paper. "The Israeli practices prove that Tel Aviv is determined to go ahead on its plots pertaining to annexation of more Arab territories turning a deaf ear to the American reactions," it noted. Hesitation in the stands of Washington will never help in the activation of the peace process and leading it to its proper track; on the contrary it will make the project of establishing the Palestinian state at the windward, said the daily, adding that there are two options before Washington; either to put pressure on Israel and to threaten it with sanctions in case of its failure to put an end to its settlement policy, or to give up its role as a mediator and sponsor of a fair peace , which will mean that security, peace and stability in the region will be unattainable. "The real problem is that: Washington is still putting pressure on the Palestinians at a time when it does not know how to put pressure on Israel," the daily added.
