A four-student team from the Dhahran-based University of Petroleum and Minerals ranked first in the First International Contest for Imperial Award in the Middle East. The contest, organized by the U.S. Petroleum Geologists Association, was held in Manama, Bahrain, on how to evaluate and exploit an oil field and fix the projected points for digging. The university was represented by four students from the Earth Department. They were Banjo Hussein, Mohammed Matrook Alsadah, Saud Mohammed Zeineddin and Saleh Ibrahim Al-Homaid with the supervision of Dr. Khalid Alramadan, staff member. The finals of the contest will be held in New Orleans from 10-14 April 2010.
