A car flew 30 meters through the air in a spectacular accident on a motorway near the German city of Frankfurt today, leaving the passengers largely unscathed, dpa reported. The car was thrown into the air when its driver swerved out of line behind a lorry and slid on a crash barrier along the central reservation of the autobahn. The car turned upside down in the air, landed on its roof and slid along the road for 70 meters. The 42-year-old driver, his 30-year-old wife and their six-year-old child managed to extricate themselves from the wrecked car. The driver suffered minor injuries, according to the German police. Traffic on the busy A3 motorway between Frankfurt and Wuerzburg was only slightly disrupted because the car landed in an area sealed off for road works.
