A young couple involved in accident lay dead in their car at the side of a busy German motorway for a week before they were discovered on Friday, police said, according to dpa. Maintenance workers found the 22-year-old man and his female companion aged 20 in the wreckage of their vehicle hidden by a clump of bushes alongside the A61 autobahn in Rhineland Palatinate state. Police said skidmarks found near the scene indicated the car had swerved off the motorway and plunged down an embankment before crashing into a tree near Bornheim. The couple were reported missing on July 28 when they failed to return home after a visit to friends in the nearby town of Koblenz. Police said the accident probably occurred late at night when there was little traffic on the otherwise busy highway. The wreckage was not visible from the autobahn and maintenance workers only noticed it when they were trimming bushes immediately in front of the car.
