A four-month-old baby boy has been found dead after his stroller was hit by a lorry and dragged for more than 30 kilometers in southern China, a news report said Thursday, according to dpa. The boy's body was found in a road tunnel on Wednesday, four days after the lorry hit the boy's mother as she walked along a road with the stroller in Shenzhen, near Hong Kong, the South China Morning Post said. The mother Li Yun, 20, was thrown to the road, suffering a fractured skull in Sunday's accident, while her son in his stroller was caught beneath the lorry's bumper and dragged away. Witnesses reportedly heard the baby's cries and shouted at lorry driver, Leung Koon-bui, to stop but he carried on, telling police later he was unaware he had hit anyone, according to the newspaper. He eventually stopped near a road tunnel more than 30 kilometres away and found the blood-stained stroller which he dumped by the roadside before continuing home to Hong Kong. Leung returned to China and turned himself in to police but claimed he had not seen the baby boy who was eventually found Wednesday in a road tunnel close to where the stroller was dumped. Leung was being held in custody as the police investigation into the case continued. The boy's mother Li remained in hospital in Shenzhen with extensive injuries, the Post said.
