A mild tectonic earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter in scale hit Namlea island in Buru district, Maluku province, here on Monday at 09.58 east Indonesia standard time (WIT). According to the chief of the local Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Benny Sipolo, the temblor's epicenter was located at 3,3 southern longitude and 126,99 eastern latitude or 16 kilometers southwest of Namlea at a depth of 10 kilometers below sea level, ANTARA reported. The mild earthquake did not cause panic among the local people.
