An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale jolted the eastern Indonesian town of Tual in Southeast Maluku district at 8.32 on Thursday morning, ANTARA quoted local Meteorology and Geophysics Agency chief Benny Sipolo as saying. Benny said the epicenter of the earthquake was located at 4.65 degrees southern latitude and 131.72 degrees eastern longitude at a depth of 34 kilometers, or 157 kilometers northwest of Tual. So far, there was no report of tsunami, casualties or damage.
