An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale jolted southeast Gorontalo, Sulawesi, of Indonesia on Tuesday, Indonesian News Agency (ANTARA) reported. The temblor''s epicenter was located at 0.58 degrees southern latitude and 123.83 degrees eastern longitude, around 150 km southeast of Gorontalo, or 254 km southeast of Manado (North Sulawesi Province), at a depth of 10 km below sea level, according to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency. Indonesia sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire" where the meeting of continental plates causes high volcanic and seismic activities.
