Two suspected robbers were killed Thursday in a shootout with police officers along a highway in the Philippines, dpa quoted a police report as saying. The unidentified suspects tried to breach a police checkpoint on a highway in Los Banos town in Laguna province, 40 kilometers south of Manila, the report said. The suspects fired at the police officers manning the checkpoint, triggering a firefight that resulted in the killing of the two gunmen. No police officer was hurt in the shootout.
