The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Prof Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, received recently at the General Secretariat here, the Ambassador of Eritrea to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia , Mohamed Omer Mahmud who briefed the Secretary General on the situation in his country and the latest developments in the Horn of Africa. On his part, Prof Ihsanoglu stressed the need for peace and stability in the region and conveyed the preparedness of the OIC to contribute to the peaceful resolutions of conflicts in accordance with its new mandate, mission and vision. The two sides also reviewed the possibility of developing bilateral ties between them, according to a press release of the OIC.
