Major US stock indices booked gains Monday as prices for oil and metals lifted the energy and commodities sectors. Easing worries about the global impact of a possible default by Emirates-owned conglomerate Dubai World helped raise investor confidence. The blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 34.92 points, or 0.34 per cent, to 10,344.84. The broader Standard and Poor"s 500 Index gained 4.14 points, or 0.38 per cent, to 1,095.63. The technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index added 6.16 points, or 0.29 per cent, to 2,144.6. The US currency slipped against the euro to 66.63 euro cents from 66.86 euro cents on Friday. The dollar was off against the Japanese currency to 86.31 yen from 86.77 yen on Friday. --SPA
