Two ferries collided Friday on the Nile River in Egypt, with one sinking and the other tipping over, and some passengers were missing, officials said. The collision occurred near the port of Rosetta, or Rashid, on the Mediterranean, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported. While no deaths had been confirmed late Friday, many of the passengers were missing, UPI quoted the Corporation as saying. The Chinese news agency Xinhua reported that the Middle East News Agency has put the number of missing at eight while Nile News TV said 50 passengers could not be found. Another 12 people were taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries.
