At least one person died and about 20 people were missing after a bus slipped from a ferry into the Xinjiang river in China's eastern province of Jiangxi, state media said on Monday, according to dpa. Children travelling to summer classes were among the estimated 20 to 30 passengers on the bus when it plunged into the river in Jiangxi's Yugan county late Monday morning, the official Xinhua news agency said. Rescuers pulled five survivors and one body from the river and were still searching for missing passengers, the agency quoted county government official Wang Xiaoyan as saying. The agency gave no details of the cause of the accident, saying only that it happened "suddenly" at around 11:00 am. Traffic accidents kill more than 200 people daily in China, according to government statistics. Another 16 people died after a bus plunged into the Yarlung Zangbo river in China's Tibet region last Friday, the government said.
